Following the political demand to abolish the obligation to issue receipts for amounts below €30, the topic is currently being discussed intensively in the Austrian media. In the process, the potential of digital receipts has also gained increased attention.

As product manager for digital receipt by fiskaly and fiscalization expert, Stefan Kohlbacher is very familiar with the details on the topic. In this article, he clarifies some of the myths about the implementation of digital receipts that are often mentioned in public discussions.

## Myth 1: Digitizing receipts is costly and time-consuming

The common assumption that the introduction of digital receipts involves a high financial effort for merchants and is therefore reserved for large market players is not true. Solutions for digital receipts are not expensive. Moreover, existing investment subsidies in the area of digitization, such as those provided by [Austria Wirtschaftsservice](https://wirtschaftsagentur.at/foerderungen/aktuelle-programme/wien-digital-110/) and the [Vienna Business Agency](https://www.aws.at/en/aws-digitalization/), can be used. In addition, it should not be forgotten that the use of digital receipts definitely saves costs on hardware as well as in operations.

## Myth 2: Customers must provide their data when using digital receipts

Completely anonymous transmission by scanning QR codes is possible every time and at a low cost. The fact that the collection and storage in connection with personal data (e.g. customer apps, etc.) brings further advantages for retailers, but also for consumers, is of course different matter.

## Myth 3: Digital receipts increase waiting times at the checkout

In some industries, payment processing at the checkout would be significantly slowed down. This may be the case if personal data first has to be captured in a time-consuming manner, but not if the delivery of a digital receipt works via QR code or, even better, with direct banking integration.

## Myth 4: Digital receipts are not automatically sent to the tax office

[A legally compliant receipt issuing obligation within the framework of the Austrian Registrierkassensicherheitsverordnung (RKSV)](https://www.bmf.gv.at/en/topics/taxation/cash-register/cash-register-receipt-issuing-obligation.html) is also ensured by digital receipts. It is also true that every cash register is directly connected to the Ministry of Finance via an interface, but this is only used to register the cash register and its security devices, as well as their configuration. A transmission per transaction or a receipt does not take place this way.

> The proposed limit of 30 euros for the receipt issuing obligation therefore represents a challenge for all parties involved in my view: The elimination of a large volume of receipts also means the elimination of an important aspect of the previously envisaged audit cycle and can trigger a significantly higher time requirement for both the tax authorities and the merchant, as well as a potential disruption of business operations.

The Spanish tax system is intricate, featuring two tax regimes: the ordinary and the foral. Within the foral regime, there are four distinct tax authorities. One covers Navarra's region, while the other three correspond to the various provinces in the Basque Country: Araba, Gipuzkoa, and Biscay. ## What does fiscalization mean?

Fiscalization is the **seamless recording of transactions and anti-tamper protection of transaction logs in POS systems**. The requirements are set by the legislation of individual countries or administrative regions.

In simpler terms, it's a method to ensure that all companies follow the same rules, promoting transparency in both business and government finances. It also establishes consistent procedures for handling invoices and tax reporting.

## Fiscal legislations in Spain from 2023 to 2026

### ​1️⃣​ · Fiscalization in the Basque Country: TicketBAI

[TicketBAI is the fiscal system to avoid tax fraud](https://www.fiskaly.com/signes/ticketbai) promoted by the three Basque provincial tax authorities and the Basque government. Sending all the invoices issued for the sale of goods or services electronically to the tax authorities is mandatory. In the provinces of Araba and Gipuzkoa, TicketBAI is already mandatory for all companies and professionals. Companies, freelancers, consultancies and professional law firms must manage their invoicing in compliance with the legal requirements set out by TicketBAI. In Biscay, compliance with TicketBAI is included in a more complex regulation called Batuz, and the compulsory deadline for compliance will be 2026.

#### What is TicketBAI about?

The fundamental procedure for complying with TicketBAI (you'll also come across it in its abbreviated form, TBAI) operates as follows:

* Any individual or legal entity affected by TicketBAI must use a POS or billing software that ensures that invoices or purchase tickets issued cannot be manipulated.
* All invoices - simplified and complete - must include two key components: the unique TBAI identification code and a QR code.
* The anti-fraud software shall generate electronically signed TicketBAI XML files for each transaction and send them immediately to the tax authorities.
* The anti-fraud software has to be registered as TBAI guarantor in the official registry of the Basque authorities.

#### TicketBAI implementation timeline

The implementation process of TicketBAI started with a voluntary period in 2020. Each province set different deadlines for the implementation of TicketBAI, with the initial expectation that it would be fully implemented by 2024 in the three Basque provinces. In Araba and Gipuzkoa, 99% of the companies are already TBAI compliant. Due to the difficulty of Biscayan companies and professionals to adapt to Batuz before 2024, [the period of mandatory implementation of TicketBAI was postponed from 2024 to 2026 in Biscay](https://www.fiskaly.com/blog/biscay-extends-ticketbai-implementation-to-2026), in a staggered way.

### 2️⃣ · Fiscalization in Spain: Anti-fraud law (Veri*Factu) in Spain

Elsewhere in Spain, a regulation similar to TicketBAI has been proposed, known as the Anti-fraud law. It's designed to prevent companies in Spain from tampering with their accounting and invoicing. However, this law is not in effect yet. The final technical details and the timeline for implementation are expected to be released before 2024.

#### What are the Spanish Anti-fraud law and Veri*Factu?

The [Anti-fraud law 11/2021 of July 9th](https://www.boe.es/buscar/act.php?id=BOE-A-2021-11473) advocates for measures to prevent and fight fiscal fraud, with specific mention of the use of VeriFactu softwares. According to the law, all invoicing software used in Spain must prevent the modification and deletion of records in the invoicing process and, furthermore, transmit all invoicing records to the National Tax Administration Agency (Agencia Estatal de Administración Tributaria).

Furthermore, the law establishes the **requirements of the VeriFactu Software**, which must be used by companies and professionals when issuing ordinary and simplified invoices in accordance with the new regulations. The word VeriFactu refers to "Verifiable invoice in the AEAT's electronic office" (in Spanish: “Factura verificable en la sede electrónica de la AEAT”). ​​For those who choose the option of using a VeriFactu software, they are expected to comply with all the requirements stated in the Anti-fraud Law.

The draft legislation for VeriFactu and the updates published on June 2022 establish the following **technical requirements**:

* An XML file is created for each transaction: one record for issuing the invoice and another one for the cancellation.
* Invoices will have to be chained, so that their trace can be verified in a sequence, preventing manipulation.
* At the moment, sending the registries to the tax administration will be voluntary for the taxpayer. However, the software must include this functionality and need to be able to send it upon request, as it may become necessary during an audit.
* A digital certificate is not yet required when the software issues all the invoicing registries to the tax administration. However, the electronic signature will be mandatory if the files are not automatically sent to the AEAT.
* Invoices include a QR code and the phrase “VERI*FACTU” (or the complete sentence “Factura verificable en la sede electrónica de la AEAT”) when all registries are automatically sent to the tax agency in a synchronous way. 

#### Anti-fraud law and Veri*factu implementation timeline

The most recent draft suggests that taxpayers can expect to utilize the Anti-Fraud Law starting from July 1st, 2024, although a slight delay is anticipated due to the government formation delay at the end of 2023.

Furthermore, the draft outlines that software developers will have a 9-month period from the publication of the final technical regulations to implement VeriFactu.

Currently, we are eagerly awaiting the release of regulations that will outline the technical specifications. These specifications will set the timelines for software developers, companies, and professionals to integrate VeriFactu.

### 3️⃣​ · Fiscalization for big companies: Immediate Supply of Information (*Suministro Inmediato de Información* or SII) 

The Immediate Supply of Information, commonly referred to as SII (its complete name in Spanish is Suministro Inmediato de Información), has been a compulsory tax control system in Spain since 2017. This system enables the real-time tracking of Value Added Tax (VAT) records, which can be accessed through the [AEAT's website (Spanish national tax authorities)](https://sede.agenciatributaria.gob.es/Sede/en_gb/inicio.html).

SII is mandatory for the following groups:

* Companies, businesses, and taxpayers with their tax headquarters in Spain, whose annual income exceeds €6 million
* Entities included in VAT groups
* Those registered for monthly VAT returns using the REDEME system

Furthermore, it's also possible for other companies and professionals to opt for voluntary participation in the SII.

#### SII technical requirements

The primary focus of the SII is the electronic declaration requirement for various types of information, including invoices issued and received, sent to the Spanish Tax Agency (AEAT) through the electronic record books.

The specific record books in question are as follows:

* Record book of invoices issued
* Record book of invoices received
* Record book of investment goods
* Record book of certain intra-Community transactions

In general, it's necessary to transmit this information to the relevant Tax Administration within a maximum of four working days from the issuance or receipt of the invoices. Unlike TicketBAI or VeriFactu, the AEAT also provides XML file structures and a dedicated communication process for this purpose, but it doesn't require the chaining of records, electronic signatures or software certification for managing the information transmission.

#### SII coexistence with TicketBAI and Veri*Factu

As mentioned earlier in this article, the Spanish tax system is known for its intricacies. This complexity arises from the coexistence of various tax authorities at both the regional and national levels, as well as the presence of diverse regulations that impact specific types of companies. Consequently, both TicketBAI and VeriFactu will operate alongside the SII.

### 4️⃣ · “Crea y Crece” law and e-invoice

[The 'Crea y Crece’ law (Law 18/2022 enacted on September 28, 2022)](https://www.boe.es/diario_boe/txt.php?id=BOE-A-2022-15818) was established with the objective of promoting digitalization, combating delayed payments within businesses and professionals, and enhancing management processes. One of its key provisions includes the implementation of electronic invoicing. This is the law you may have heard about, making **electronic invoices mandatory in Spain** from 2024.

#### What are the provisions of the 'Crea y Crece’ law regarding electronic invoicing?

According to its 12th article, the 'Crea y Crece’ law mandates that companies and self-employed individuals are required to generate and receive electronic invoices using service providers that ensure compatibility with the electronic invoicing formats specified in the law. 

This obligation pertains to business-to-business (B2B) transactions, provided that both the seller and the recipient are operating within Spain. To comply with this requirement, companies must use invoicing software that adheres to the provisions of the law, is registered as such with the Spanish Tax Agency (AEAT), and ensures the proper connection to the public electronic invoicing platform where taxpayers' invoice records will be transmitted. As a result, electronic invoicing in this manner will apply to complete invoices and not simplified ones.

#### The commencement of mandatory electronic invoicing in Spain

Law 18/2022 stipulates that the technical specifications for electronic invoicing systems should be made public within six months of their approval. This originally implied an expected implementation date in March 2023. However, two rounds of public consultations were initiated, one in March and another in July 2023.

These public consultations are to be considered in the finalization of the official requirements. The precise date for their publication remains pending, but it's anticipated to occur in the last quarter of 2023.

Following the publication of the official requirements, companies with an annual turnover exceeding €8 million will have one year to incorporate the necessary modifications, while all other companies will be granted an additional year for preparation. Consequently, **the mandatory electronic invoicing obligation for transactions between B2B companies is anticipated to take effect starting in 2024.**

Exploring advantages of digital receipts in hospitality industry

One of the most frequently asked questions about the digital receipt is, "How does the receipt get on my device?" Issuing receipts by e-mail or SMS is one of the standard transmission methods. However, transmission via QR code is much more convenient and faster for consumers and merchants. Therefore, we distinguish between the two options of static and dynamic QR codes.

## QR code: Dynamic & Fast

The dynamic QR code is shown to the customer directly on the display of the POS device after payment. The customer scans it with the help of their smartphone and gets the receipt displayed directly in the device's browser. The dynamic QR code is individual for each transaction. It is regenerated and displayed each time after the payment is completed. A dynamic QR code's information can be changed as often as needed, even after it is created.

### **Pros & Cons**

* Pros: Simplified process for transactions for both merchant and consumer. Faster in completing the process.
* Cons: Requires a display to show the QR code. Possibility of other customers (unintentionally) scanning the QR code as well.

## QR Code: Static & Location Independent

A static QR code has a URL embedded in the code that cannot be changed once it is created. The process of issuing a digital receipt with a static QR code works like this:

### **Before payment**

1. When the QR code is scanned, the embedded URL takes the customer to a website where an automatically generated numeral code is displayed.
2. The merchant scans the code or enters it manually into the POS system and transfers it to the system when the digital receipt is created.

### **After payment**

3. Once the digital receipt is generated, the website is updated on the customer's device, and the digital receipt is displayed.

### **Pros & cons:**

* Advantages: No electronic display is needed at the checkout to show the QR code. Instead, the static QR code can be presented to the customer as a table display, sticker, or badge. Thus, there is no contradiction in the compatibility of electronic receipts when used with cash registers that only have one display. Furthermore, delivery via the static QR code guarantees unambiguous transmission to the target customer, eliminating the need for data protection and security questions. 
* Disadvantages: The scanning process with a static QR code on site is more complicated and takes longer than with a dynamic QR code (for merchants and consumers).

## Examples of good practice

In the hospitality industry, everything has to happen fast. During the payment request & process, guests quickly become impatient. This is where dynamic QR codes come in handy to speed up the process even more.

In the consumer goods sector, customers take more time to select the right product or to get advice. In many outlets (depending on size and turnover), stationary cash registers, which do not have an electronic display oriented toward the customer, are predominantly used. Static QR codes are a practical alternative to offer customers digital receipts.

To get started with digital receipts in an uncomplicated way, we recommend the option of dynamic QR codes. With the right equipment, dynamic QR codes enable quick and easy transactions. If the investment is an important parameter in the realization, static QR codes are an excellent alternative, as they can be guaranteed without the need to purchase new hardware.

In order to support companies and professionals in the province, Biscay's tax authorities have decided to extend the implementation period of Batuz from 2024 to 2026. As you may know, [TicketBAI is a part of the extensive Batuz](https://www.fiskaly.com/blog/ticketbai-and-batuz-in-bizkaia) economic activity control strategy in Biscay.

The initial calendar stipulated that, in January 2024, all companies and professionals in the territory of Biscay would have to comply with the new TicketBAI regulations against tax fraud. However, as of August 2023, only 17% of companies have adapted their processes to comply with it, despite the tax incentives provided by the early implementation of this system.

That's why Biscay's tax authorities [have recognised the difficulty of maintaining the previous schedule](https://www.bizkaia.eus/es/web/comunicacion/noticias/-/news/detailView/25477), and they have extended the implementation dates from 2024 to 2026. Below you will find the new mandatory dates, established gradually for different types of companies and with adaptation periods of six months at a time.

## New TicketBAI implementation timeline in Biscay

* **1st January 2024:** corporate taxpayers who are not Micro-SMEs. In other words, companies with a turnover of more than €2 million of which only 13% of them have voluntarily adhered to Batuz to date.
* **1st July 2024:** micro-SMEs operating in the following activities: industrial, manufacturing, construction and transport, financial, legal, insurance, rental and other professional activities except for education and cultural activities. This group represents 50% of the business and professional sector of Biscay and, for the moment, only 21% of them have implemented Batuz and TicketBAI voluntarily. 
* **1st January 2025:** micro-SMEs operating hospitality and catering, trade, commerce, repair of movable goods, hairdressing and other personal services (legal entities and ERARs with PJ). This group represents almost 9% of the economic activity and 15% of them already comply with Batuz and TicketBAI.
* **1st July 2025:** micro-SMEs dedicated to hospitality and catering, trade, repair of movable goods, hairdressing and other personal services (in this case, natural persons and ERARs without PJ). They occupy 20% of the global Biscay’s activity and only 10% of them have voluntarily opted in so far. 
* **1st January 2026:** entities totally and partially exempt from corporation tax (Impuesto de sociedades); non-profit entities; and companies dedicated to agriculture, livestock and fishing, education, cultural services and the rest of taxpayers.

As you can see, there are still many companies that have not yet adapted to TicketBAI in the province of Biscay, despite tax authorities wanting to maintain the tax incentives for those who adhere to the new regulations before the scheduled period.

## Requirements in Bizkaia

The TicketBAI software in the billing or POS system must generate XML files for each transaction and sign them with a digital certificate. It also provides a QR code and ID code to print on the invoice. The invoices are chained by the software into a sequence so their trace can be verified in a sequence and the XML files are stored for an established period of time.

Nevertheless, I still see myself as a software developer (currently mainly in Java) and try to invest as much time as possible into that. I enjoy being part of a motivated, multicultural team that overcomes challenges together, practices high quality as well as agile software development, and tries to improve constantly.

## Fiscal incentives for voluntary adoption of BATUZ in Bizkaia

The compensation for voluntarily adopting the BATUZ system (which encompasses [compliance with TicketBAI](https://www.fiskaly.com/signes/ticketbai)) targets individuals, as well as micro, small, and medium-sized companies liable for corporate income tax. Eligibility hinges on adherence to BATUZ and meeting its criteria.

These taxpayers will qualify for a **10% compensation in either Personal Income Tax (IRPF) or Corporate Income Tax (Impuesto de Sociedades)** under the following circumstances:

**In 2024:**

* This applies universally to those who joined BATUZ voluntarily in 2022 or 2023.
* Alternatively, for those joining from 2024 onward, their implementation must precede their mandatory deadline by at least 6 months as specified in the regulations.

**In 2025:**

* If they are at least 6 months ahead of their mandatory implementation date as outlined in the regulations for complying with BATUZ, whether they joined during the voluntary period (2022 and 2023) or afterward from 2024 onwards.

Furthermore, to incentivize the adoption of BATUZ and TicketBAI, and in accordance with the regulations outlined in Foral Regulation 8/2023, which establishes measures for the definitive implementation of the BATUZ system, Bizkaia has introduced **a 30% deduction in the tax burden of Personal Income Tax (IRPF) or Corporate Income Tax (Impuesto de Sociedades) until 2025**. This deduction encompasses expenses or investments associated with the implementation of BATUZ, including:

* Procurement of equipment and terminals, along with software and related peripherals, including their implementation and installation.
* Procurement of essential electronic signature software, along with its implementation and installation.

The Foral Regulation 8/2023, dated November 22, outlining steps for the final rollout of the BATUZ system, provides the following schedule:

In the Basque Country in Spain, a compliance law - called TicketBAI (Basque for "Ticket YES") - was passed to prevent tax fraud. Each Basque Province - Gipuzkoa, Araba, and Bizkaia - has established specific software requirements for TicketBAI. In this article, we list the similarities and differences between the provinces.

## What applies in all provinces?

All invoicing systems have to be compliant with TicketBAI. This means the billing or POS systems must be equipped with software that:

1. is registered in the Provincial Software Registration List.
2. chains the invoices so that their trace can be verified in a sequence, preventing manipulation, alteration, or deletion.
3. creates XML files for each transaction, signs them with a valid digital certificate, and sends them to the corresponding Tax Authority.
4. stores all the XML files during the established period of time.
5. generates a QR code and an Identification code which must be printed on the invoice. 

## What are the differences between the provinces?

The differences in compliance with TicketBAI in each Basque province are as follows:

1. Each province has its own Tax Authority to send the files to, depending on where the taxpayer is registered.
2. The content of the XML file may differ slightly between the provinces.
3. In Bizkaia, TicketBAI is part of a more comprehensive strategy called Batuz. 
4. There are differences between the provinces regarding TicketBAI replacing the SII system or not.
5. Implementation deadlines differ.

FAQs about TicketBAI

The compliance law TicketBAI was also introduced in the Province of Araba. In this blog post you will learn the details about the implementation of TicketBAI in Araba. TicketBAI compliance is established in Araba by the Foral Decree 48/2021, of October 5th, and aims to prevent tax tampering.

## Requirements in Araba

Software in the billing or point-of-sale system must generate XML files for each transaction, sign them with a digital certificate, and send them to Araba’s Provincial Council. The software must also provide a QR code and ID code to be printed on the invoice. Further, the software chains invoices into a sequence so their trace can be verified in a sequence and stores their XML files for an established period of time.

## SII obligations in Araba

TicketBAI affects those who are currently obliged to SII compliance. In Álava, TicketBAI does not exempt the taxpayer from SII obligations. TicketBAI is sending the information according to the “Issued Invoices” book. You do not need to submit the same information twice to the tax authority - only the additional books.

## TicketBAI deadlines in Araba

In Gipuzkoa, TicketBAI is initially implemented on a voluntary basis and then on a mandatory basis. In several stages, the mandatory implementation will take place. We have listed the implementation deadlines here.

**01/01/2022:** Voluntary period starts.

**01/04/2022:** Mandatory period starts for consultancies that collaborate with Araba’s Provincial Council

**01/07/2022:** Mandatory period starts for retail sales of medicines, sanitary and personal hygiene products, and professional activities (including but not limited to telecommunications, agricultural and livestock services, transportation services, hospitality sector, and financial services)

The [French anti-waste law](https://www.legifrance.gouv.fr/loda/id/JORFTEXT000041553759) (Law No. 2020-105 of 10 February 2020 or “Loi anti-gaspillage”), aimed at controlling waste and promoting a circular economy, has been in effect since August 1st, 2023. This [regulation aims to increase consumer awareness](https://www.ecologie.gouv.fr/loi-anti-gaspillage-economie-circulaire) while reducing waste in various areas. Its objectives also include the elimination of harmful substances from receipts and the reduction of the substantial [paper waste generated by approximately 30 billion receipts annually](https://www.service-public.fr/particuliers/actualites/A16120). Merchants now only have to provide printed receipts when asked explicitly by the customer.

The law's enforcement date was originally set for January 1st, 2023, but postponed in order to give POS vendors more time to incorporate digital receipt functionalities into their software.

## The paper receipt will be replaced by electronic receipts that are sent to the buyer

Imagine this: you walk into a bakery to buy a donut or a croissant. Your treat is adorned with a sugar glaze receipt showing the price, quantity, and receipt number. In January 2020, 200 sugar glaze receipts embellished the traditional Bavarian filled donut (the so-called Krapfen), in a Bavarian bakery. This wasn't an expression of affection for the aesthetics of receipts by the bakers; it was a protest against the introduction of the [mandatory receipt issuance law in Germany](https://kassensichv.net/en/articles/receipt-issuance-obligation-in-germany-background-effects-and-alternatives) in January 2020.

The receipt issuance obligation aims to [ensure the transaction is recorded in the cash register system](https://www.spiegel.de/wirtschaft/service/bon-pflicht-neues-kassengesetz-hat-folgen-fuer-die-umwelt-a-1297036.html) and prevent tax evasion. "Stop the receipt and trash madness immediately," demanded the Central Association of the German Bakers back then. In response to protests from bakers and many other industries, the federal government sought to appease concerns by emphasizing that [receipts could also be issued electronically](https://www.spiegel.de/wirtschaft/service/scholz-erlaubt-wildwuchs-bei-digitalen-quittungen-a-08e30e90-f1b0-44f4-815d-b37c6e00b2bc). Concrete guidelines were however not forthcoming; implementation was left to individual companies.

## The e-receipt is here to stay
Today, transitioning to electronic receipts is only a matter of time. Bitkom states that [digital receipts already play a role for 44% of companies.](https://www.bitkom.org/Bitkom/Publikationen/Elektronische-Beleg-und-Rechnungsdaten-im-Jahr-2022) According to a [2022 study on POS systems by EHI](https://www.ehi.org/produkt/studie-pos-systeme-2022-pdf-version/), approximately 34% of all receipts in Germany can now be issued digitally. The forecast for the future is 95%. [Companies like Rewe already offer digital receipts](https://mediacenter.rewe.de/pressemitteilungen/papier-sparen-mit-rewe-app-und-ebon) through their app.

Innovation often becomes possible only when businesses, as well as consumers, are ready for it. A popular example is the predecessor of the Macintosh: In December 1968, Xerox introduced a technology with a mouse and graphical display, the Xerox Alto. Accounts of that time suggest that managers at Xerox viewed typing correspondence as secretarial work and calculating numbers as tasks for the accounting department, hence showing little interest in the wider distribution of the Alto. The device was used only internally at Xerox. Many of the innovations in the Alto were later adopted by Steve Jobs for the Apple Macintosh, which was released in 1984 as the first commercially successful personal computer and revolutionized society. The Xerox Alto was ahead of its time.

This is a real problem, especially for businesses selling large quantities at low prices.

Furthermore, the electronic receipt is an opportunity to connect with consumers. How our work culture makes fiskaly a Great Place To Work

Do we fit together? In the Cultural Fit we try to find out if we and you fit. We want to create a good working environment and atmosphere. So this step is very meaningful to us.
You got our attention [with your application](https://www.fiskaly.com/jobs#application-process)! Hence we will contact you to proceed with the application process. Here you can read how the Cultural Fit works and what to expect from the interview in three easy steps. 👇

## 1. Arranging the Cultural Fit

Our fiskaly team will reach out to you to arrange an interview for the Cultural Fit. You only need to enter your availability in the calendar link which is attached to the “Interview Availability” email. After that, you will get a confirmation email when your interview will take place. Please be sure to check your spam folder too - sometimes our emails end up there.
One thing is for sure: I was thrilled with how quickly and professionally the arrangement took place for my Cultural Fit.

## 2. Are we a cultural fit?

The answer starts right here. On the one hand, we want to plunge right into our culture with you and show you what it means to work for fiskaly. On the other hand, we would like to get to know you as a person. The main question is: Do we fit together? There are two different approaches depending on what position you are applying for.

### Non-technical Cultural Fit

From the non-technical point of view, questions about your preferred working environment, your experiences in the past, and how you react to criticism are good starters for us to get the conversation rolling. In addition to that, we like to ask about your accumulated knowledge in the respective industry you applied for. Hint: Prepare for those questions.

### Technical Cultural Fit

The technical cultural fit is adapted to applicants who applied for a job in one of our development departments. It is similar to the non-technical Cultural Fit regarding the starting questions, but we like to spice it up by asking development related questions like “Did you ever make a mistake which led to a site/app crashing?” and “What was your reaction to that? What were your learnings?”.
Our main goal of the interview, regardless of whether it is the non-technical or the technical Cultural Fit, is to get to know you as a person. It helps us find out if you are a great fit for fiskaly.
We like to chat in a relaxed atmosphere and I can assure you our fiskaly employees are very dear so there is no need to be nervous. 😄

## 3. It's time for questions 🤓

The Cultural Fit is coming to an end and now it’s your turn to ask questions. We are happy to answer everything you want to know. Whether you have questions about our culture, about fiskaly, or our interviewers: Don’t be shy, just ask.

The Cultural Fit - Bringing cultures together

If you arrived at this step of the application process it means our cultures harmonize. You like our company culture and we liked you as a person. It’s time for the Skill & Team Fit, the third step of our application process! We are as excited as you are, so let’s dive right into the three steps. 👇

## 1. Meeting the team

The procedure repeats. 🔁 You will get an email from us where we would like you to enter your availability in the calendar. After that you will get a confirmation email of our interview date. We will also attach a small challenge to that email which we would like you to prepare for our upcoming interview. This time you will be in an interview with your potential future team.

## 2. Ready for a challenge?

You probably guessed it right already - you are meeting your potential future team because we want to know if you are a good fit for us. Our team members and our teamwork are very important to us - that’s why we set such a high value on finding the right person. This is our get-to-know phase where everyone introduces themselves. Furthermore, we would like to know what skills you can inspire us with and what you can contribute to our team on our journey to make fiscalization processes easier for our customers. Your prepared challenge sheet is the perfect way to show us what you are capable of. Again there are two different approaches now regarding the challenge.

### Non-technical challenge

The non-technical challenge includes tasks which are related to the department you are applying for. I applied for the position of Content Creator in the marketing department, hence i got tasks like writing a short paragraph of a blog, creating a LinkedIn post and correcting a text.

### Technical challenge

The technical challenge contains different kinds of tasks. I talked to Francesca, our new Developer, and she told me that she prepared a coding challenge for her Skill Fit. She got the information she needed from our development team, coded the frontend of an application and presented her work to the team step-by-step.
All in all, different positions demand different challenges. The main goal for us is to find out if you fit in our team, what your working process looks like and what skills you can bring to the team.

## 3. It’s time for questions - again 🤓

Like in the Cultural Fit interview we take our time for a question session for the Skill & Team Fit as well. You can ask us everything you want to know about our teams, our employees and about the skills we can bring to the table. Again, don’t be shy - we love it when you show interest.
With those three points of the Skill & Team Fit your application process is finished - you can lean back.

Afterwards, our team needs some time to talk about how the whole process went. If you are our fit you will get a job offer and hopefully become an official member of fiskaly. 😎
