We're excited to share some news: David Feichter, former CEO of orderbird, has joined founder Johannes Ferner as Co-CEO, a move designed to sharpen our focus as we scale across Europe.
It's a milestone worth pausing on. fiskaly has grown 60% year-over-year, scaling profitably along the way. Bringing on a Co-CEO isn't a signal that something needs fixing: it's a structural choice to match the pace of where we're headed next.
Two roles, one direction
Feichter will lead operations and organizational scaling, while Ferner will focus on international partnerships, acquisitions, and institutional representation continuing to bring fiskaly's transaction compliance infrastructure into new European markets.
fiskaly will also stay active on the M&A front, building on its track record of acquisitions to move quickly whenever the right opportunities arise across Europe.
Why David, why now
Feichter brings more than 20 years of experience in POS and fintech across Europe and the US, spanning product and executive leadership through multiple market cycles — including Clover's high-growth years, and orderbird, which also happens to be fiskaly's first-ever customer.
"fiskaly has built a strong position in transaction compliance and demonstrated the scale of the market opportunity," says Feichter. "Our ambition now is to consolidate that leadership and help shape where this space goes next."
For Ferner, the shift to a Co-CEO model marks a new phase in fiskaly's leadership journey.
"Sharing the CEO role is a strategic decision that lets us make the most of our complementary strengths, and grow in a more focused, structured way," Ferner explains. "It's a milestone I'm genuinely proud of — proof that scaling from Austria is still very much possible."
The numbers behind the milestone
fiskaly today counts more than 150 employees and its solution are available in 8 countries: Germany, Italy, Sweden, Spain, Portugal, France, Belgium, and Austria. The company serves 1,900 B2B customers across Europe, powers more than one million point-of-sale systems, and remains the leading solution in Germany.
"We're building a high-performance, AI-first organization — one that lets us grow revenue without growing costs at the same pace," Ferner adds. "That's a durable advantage in a market where access to capital is becoming more selective. For us, AI doesn't replace people, it amplifies what they can do, automating repetitive work and speeding up execution, so our teams can focus on critical thinking and more ambitious product roadmaps."
Where it all started
fiskaly was founded in Vienna in 2019 by Johannes Ferner, Simon Tragatschnig, and Patrick Gaubatz, and remained largely self-funded until European private equity firm Verdane invested in mid-2024. Since then, fiskaly has acquired Deutsche Fiskal GmbH, a subsidiary of GK Software SE, and Sweden's Infrasec Sweden AB, which provides cloud-based fiscalization solutions.
Maximilian Kempken, Principal at Verdane, said: "We’re proud to support fiskaly as it continues to drive genuine innovation in fiscalization for retailers and POS vendors across Europe. With a strengthened leadership team, the company will be able to reach even more customers in the coming years, and we look forward to working with David alongside the entire fiskaly team."
